5 PDP governors fail to attend Atiku’s campaign flag-off in Uyo

The crisis in the Peoples’ Democratic Party PDP is taking different dimensions as governor Wike Nyesom of Rivers State and his four counterparts failed to attend the party’s presidential flag-off in Akwa-Ibom state on Monday.

The governors who distanced themselves from the Uyo rally include the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, Uyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, Abia state, Okezie Ikpaezu, and Enugu State governor, Ugwuanyi Ifeanyi.

Atiku who spoke to Nigerians at the rally said he would reunite the people and rescue Nigeria from hunger, poverty, insecurity, lack of jobs, and disunity.

He reassured that students would no longer be out of school and there would be opportunities for gainful employment when elected as the president of Nigeria in the 2023 General elections.

Also speaking, the Vice Presidential candidate and Governor of Delta State Governor, Mr. Ifeanyi Okowa added that PDP was determined to rescue Nigeria and make it a nation where people can trust each other.

However, the PDP governors present at the rally include Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, the Governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Fintiri, Taraba State, Ishaku Darius, and the host governor, Udom Emmanuel.

Others are Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, Bauchi State Governor, Adamu Mohammed, Delta State Ifeanyi Okowa, and Edo State, Godwin Obaseki.

Meanwhile, Wike and the other four governors did not give a reason for their absence at the party’s flag-off at Akwa-Ibom state on Monday.
