Protest looms as Gov Diri accused of bias in Aghoro Kingship crisis

By Sola Omoniyi, Lagos
Angry residents and stakeholders of the Aghoro community in the Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have accused Governor Douye Diri of taking sides with the dethroned Highness Chief Ojukosin Ibamughan in the community Kingship crisis.
They lamented that Diri whom the community gave massive support during his governorship election had turned around to fight the community in the proxy.
The angry youths said Diri had failed them by failing to open an account for the community which he promised to receive all entitlements from SPDC pending when the conflict would be resolved.
The residents said since the conflict in the community, SPDC refused to pay the community any entitlements, adding that the governor had failed to explain to the community the whereabouts of the community monies.
The community alleged that Diri is conniving with the dethroned highness in the community to be deceiving the people of the community, stressing that the Bayelsa State governor Diri, Alex Towezi, Hon. Fred Agbedi and Fred Orumene should be held responsible for any breaking of law and order in the community.
According to the community, the investigation showed that Diri is still asking SPDC to secretly give the community entitlements to the dethroned highness who misappropriate the community money, maintaining that Alex Towezi, Hon. Fred Agbedi and Fred Orumene would pay direly if the community money gets disappeared.
The stakeholders demanded that Diri should explain to the community how much of the community money is in his custody and why the separate account for the community has not been opened, to avoid further crises that may consume lives and properties in the community.
