Police Intensify Waterways Patrol to Tackle Kidnapping, Drug Trafficking in Asaba

The Delta State Police Command has stepped up security operations along key waterways in Asaba, as part of renewed efforts to curb kidnapping, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities in the state.
The operation, which underscores the Command’s proactive crime-fighting strategy, involved a joint deployment of marine operatives from the Delta and Anambra State Police Commands, alongside personnel of the Buffalo Team. The coordinated patrol was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations and covered strategic waterways from the Second Niger Bridge axis to the Asaba Grand Hotel area.
According to a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, the exercise forms part of ongoing measures to address emerging security threats and ensure the safety of residents and commuters within the region.
Police authorities noted that all personnel involved in the operation adhered strictly to safety protocols, including the use of life jackets, reflecting a high level of professionalism in the discharge of their duties. The patrol was conducted successfully without any reported incidents.
Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to public safety, the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, assured residents that efforts are being sustained to safeguard lives and property across Delta State.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing security operations.
