Stranded Nigerians Land Abuja from War-torn Sudan

Following the ongoing crisis between the Sudanese army and paramilitary forces, not less than 350 stranded Nigerians were evacuated from Sudanese war zone and have arrived in Abuja Nigeria.
The chairman of Nigeria Diaspora Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri Erewa received the evacuees at the international airport around 11:40 pm Nigeria time, Wednesday, May 3.
Recall, Congress News had earlier reported about the crisis in Sudan and how the Nigerian government promised to evacuate its citizens mostly students.
The stranded Nigerians were first evacuated to Egypt to escape the deadly war going on in Sudan.
However, they have been flown to Nigeria from Egypt last night. The arrival of the stranded Nigerians was confirmed by NIDCOM, this is according to a tweet, which reads;
“Nigerian Evacuees Arrive In Abuja The first batch of Nigerians who fled war-torn Sudan arrived via military jet C13 at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 2340HRS with an estimate of 376 evacuees. 3rd of May, 2023.”
The war between the two rival factions of the military government of Sudan began on 15 April 2023, in the capital city of Khartoum and the Darfur region.
According to statistics, no less than 550 people have been killed and more than 4000 others had been Injured.
