Former First Ladies Should Be Given Some Privilege – Aisha Buhari

By Sola Omoniyi, Lagos
The outgoing first lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari has called for some extension of privileges to the first ladies after vacating office.
The wife of President Muhammadu Buhari asserted that the provisions of medical care, vehicles, stipends and others due to the former presidents should be also extended to their wives.
The outgoing first lady maintained that first ladies deserved these privileges just like the presidents in office and after office are entitled to them. She stated this during a book launch at the country’s Capital, Abuja.
The book was authored by the president of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association, Mrs Vickie Anwuli Irabon.
Mrs Buhari said ” I married my husband as the wife of a former president. I am going in a few days as the wife of the former president a second time. They should consider us as former first ladies. They should incorporate the first ladies, and give us some privileges that we deserve as first ladies, not just former presidents.”
