The member representing Burutu Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi has condemned the election violence which led to the killing of two residents in the Ojobo community, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The lawmaker asserted this while briefing newsmen shortly after the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly in Abuja on Tuesday.

Congress News which was live at the event reports that Pondi was grieving over the sad incident which occurred on May 25, 2023, in the community.

The lawmaker said election violence and the killing of innocent residents shouldn’t have been recorded in the Ojobo community with the presence of high-ranking politicians, judiciary members and top past and serving security officials.

While expressing disappointment, he said the Ojobo community is too refined, exposed, brave and learned to have experienced annual election violence and killings of brothers over mere Amayanabo (Highness) or community chairmen election.

While speaking, Pondi commiserated with families of victims of the election violence in the community, adding that he shared their grief and trying moments.

He urged deceased family members to be strong and find solace in God, adding he would also join hands to see that the perpetrators be brought to book.

The lawmaker urged the leadership of the community to come together and ensure no further election violence and killing in the community as it is disgusting and disappointing.
