The Recording Academy, the Organization that awards the Grammy has included three new categories for the next annual Grammy Awards.

The new categories are Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album and Best Pop Dance Recording.

According to the report, the existing categories of Producer of the Year, Non-Classical and Songwriter of the Year, will now be moved to the general field.

These developments showed that all voters will be able to vote in these categories, no matter the genre of the music.

The newly additional categories were voted on and passed at the Recording Academy’s most recent semi-annual Board of Trustees meeting.

The development showed that the Recording Academy is committed to appreciating and celebrating a wider range of music.

According to Mr Harvey Mason, the Chief Executive Officer of the Recording Academy, he maintained that the new categories represent a diverse range of relevant musical genres.
