The immediate former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje has asked a Kano High Court to stop the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, from investigating him over dollar videos.

According to a video which went viral in 2018, the former governor was receiving bundles of foreign currency suspected to be a bribe from a contractor.

However, the ex-governor denied the allegation of the video content, after the state House of Assembly set up a committee to investigate the allegation.

In the recent development, Ganduje through a former Kano attorney general asked the High Court to stop the anti-graft agency from investigating him.

Part of the release reads “A declaration of this Honourable Court that by the supremacy of the 1999 constitution as established by Sections 1 (1) thereof, since th Kano state house of assembly has begun investigation under its powers under section 128 of the 1999 constitution in connection with the video clips of bribery allegation against Dr. Umar Ganduje.”

However, it’s noted that since the House of Assembly set up a committee and started Investigation in the year 2018, the committee was yet to turn in its report, even as the new assembly was inaugurated on Tuesday 13 June 2023.
