Onitsha – Owerri Expressway Caves In

The road linking Onitsha to Owerri Expressway way at Oba Idemili South Local Government area of Anambra state has caved in.

Following the incident, motorists are now using one lane of the ever-busy road.

According to the report, traffic had been directed to only one lane, major cracks were seen several meters along the road from the popular Oba junction.

The slide has threatened some new buildings in the newly developed estates in the area as some property owners were seen inspecting the extent of damages.

Those who have filling stations and houses close to the site of the landslide stated that the rainy season getting to its peak as they fear that the menace might claim more land in the area.

Francis Nnaka, an Onitsha-based businessman who has two-storey buildings close to the affected area called on the state and federal government to intervene.
