It’s a black Sunday on July 9 as many people were killed on early hour of Sunday in a head-on collision between two tippers and an 18-seater passenger bus on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in Agemowo area, Olorunda local council development area of Lagos State.

An eyewitness reported that most of the passengers on the bus died.

“The bodies are being transported to the morgue at Badagry General Hospital, where their families can come and identify them,” the source said.

However, the cause of the accident is still under investigation, but it is believed that the driver of the bus may have lost control of the vehicle.

This is the latest in a series of fatal accidents on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. In February 2023, six people were killed in a crash involving a Toyota Sienna and a stationary truck.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) had urged motorists to be more careful while driving on the expressway.

“We are appealing to motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations,” said FRSC spokesperson Olabisi Sonusi. They should also avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.”

Meanwhile, thee Federal Road Safety Corps had deployed additional personnel to the Lagos-Badagry Expressway to help manage traffic and prevent further accidents.
