By Chukwunonso Eric, Warri.
The Delta State Police Command has rolled out a comprehensive security arrangement for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), deploying operatives to all accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the state to ensure a safe and seamless exercise.
The examination, organized by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), is scheduled to hold from Thursday, April 16 to Saturday, April 25, 2026.
In a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, said the Command has activated an intelligence-led security framework, with officers strategically stationed across all 31 approved CBT centres in the state.
According to the statement, Area Commanders in jurisdictions hosting the centres have been mandated to take full responsibility for security operations. This includes strict supervision of personnel, sustained visibility policing, rapid response readiness, and close coordination with Divisional Police Officers, tactical teams, and examination officials.
The Command emphasized that special attention would be given to intelligence gathering and the protection of ICT infrastructure to prevent any attempts to compromise the integrity of the examination process.
The police also issued a stern warning against examination malpractice, impersonation, and any form of disorderly conduct, noting that violators would be promptly arrested and prosecuted in line with the law.
Candidates were advised to adhere strictly to examination guidelines, maintain orderly conduct, and arrive at their designated centres early.
Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, the Command urged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and credible information. Members of the public were also encouraged to report suspicious activities through the Command Control Room.
The Delta State Police Command wished all candidates a successful and incident-free examination exercise.
