Following the ongoing crisis in the Abia State House of Assembly, owing to the insistence of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP members in the House of producing the majority leader, the state governor Alex Otti, has stated that he can only intervene in the crisis on the request of the members of the house. The crisis began to rock the state House following the inauguration in June, as PDP insists they must be the one to emerge the majority leader position since they are in the majority.

The Abia State House of Assembly consists of 11 PDP members, 10 Labour Party members, 2 YPP members and 1 APC member.

According to a statement signed by Special Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Otti explained that it was normal for those in the legislative arm to disagree in the course of duties.

Otti stated that he’s ready to work at all times for the peace, unity and progress of the state across party lines.
