By Peter Monday, Abuja
The Ijaw Publishers’ Forum (IPF) has warmly commended Dr. Dennis Otuaro, the head of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), for his effective service delivery and transformative reforms that have taken place in his first year in office.
In a statement released by Comrade Ozobo Austin, the national president of IPF, the forum praised Dr. Otuaro for reinstating crucial programs that had been previously halted, including foreign scholarships, marine training courses, vocational training, and empowerment schemes by previous administrators.
“Dr. Otuaro’s administration has been characterized by a series of comprehensive and inclusive meetings with stakeholders, engaging ex-agitators, community leaders, local stakeholders, women, and traditional rulers from the Niger Delta region. This collaborative approach has significantly enhanced community involvement and support for the amnesty program”, he added.
“He successfully deployed over 2,000 students for scholarships in various universities within Nigeria and abroad, with about 40 ex-agitators receiving Aero-Maintenance training in Lagos and four commercial pilots trained in South Africa. Moreover, more than 100 ex-agitators have undergone training in the maritime sector, the forum noted.
“We take pride in the remarkable accomplishments achieved by Dr. Otuaro within just one year,” stated Comrade Austin. “His dedication to restoring and strengthening vital programs reflects a commitment to uplifting the youth and empowering the Niger Delta community. We are confident that these initiatives will have a profound and lasting impact on our ex-agitators and the surrounding communities.”
The IPF highlighted the necessity of ongoing support from youth, leaders, and stakeholders across the Niger Delta for Dr. Otuaro’s agenda. “We call on everyone to unite behind him to guarantee the effective implementation of his programs and the overall advancement of our region,” the statement emphasized.
Meanwhile, the endorsement from the Ijaw Publishers’ Forum signifies a growing acknowledgment of Dr. Otuaro’s leadership and vision for a revitalized and empowered Niger Delta, as he strives for sustainable development and peace in the area.
The IPF remained optimistic that, with continued collaboration and support, the transformative initiatives initiated by Dr. Otuaro will continue to thrive, paving the way for a brighter future for all residents of the Niger Delta.
