JUST IN: High Chief Thompson Fuoye buries father in ground-style in Delta

High Chief Thompson Fuoye bid farewell to his beloved father, Chief Ekpegberigbaha Robert Fuoye, in a grand ceremony held in the Tuomo community, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State. The community came to a standstill as dignitaries and well-wishers gathered to pay their last respects to the fallen hero.

Amongst dignitaries were the commissioner of housing Delta State, Hon. Godknows Angele, Burutu LGA Chairman, Chief Julius Takeme, House of Assembly member representing Burutu South in Delta State, High Chief Mike Loyibo, the traditional prime minister of Tuomo kingdom, members of MOSIEN, top government functionaries, traditional Chiefs and many more.

The funeral rites commenced with a Novelty Football Match played between Amafini FC of Bayelsa vs. Tuomo FC at Tuomo Grammar School Field on August 7, 2025, while the traditional wake-keep was held in the Tuomo community on August 8, 2025, from 7:00 PM till dawn.

The Lying-in-State and Church Service were held At Esuku Primary School Field, Tuomo, on August 9, 2025, while the body departed Olodiama Mortuary at 9:00 AM, with a brief stop at the family compound, before proceeding to the burial site.

However, Chief Ekpegberigbaha Robert Fuoye was remembered for his wisdom, strength, and dedication to his family and community. He was affectionately nicknamed “Old Soldier” due to his resilient spirit and bold presence. The community described him as a symbol of pride and unity in Tuomo and beyond.

Meantime, the High Chief Thompson Fuoye, a leading voice in the Niger Delta struggle, led dignitaries to bid farewell to his late father. The ceremony was attended by various personalities, showcasing the deceased’s impact on the community.
