By Osaro Michael, Benin
A leading Socio-political group under the auspices of the Common Men Assembly (CMA), a grassroots-based non-governmental organization, has redeemed its earlier pledge by presenting a cheque of Ten Million Naira (₦10,000,000) to Rt. Hon. Julius G. Pondi, Ph.D., Member representing Burutu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, to secure his All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form.
Congress news gathered that the pledge was initially made in Burutu on Wednesday 22nd during Rt. Hon. Pondi’s declaration of interest to contest for a fourth term in the Green Chamber. Fulfilling that commitment, the group visited the lawmaker to formally hand over the cheque in the presence of members of the Julius Pondi Campaign Team and officials of the Common Men Assembly.
Speaking during the presentation, Chairman of CMA, Chief Jude Angodide, said the decision to support the lawmaker was based on his visible achievements, accessibility to constituents, and consistent representation of the interests of Burutu Federal Constituency. He emphasized that the Assembly remains committed to promoting leadership that delivers development and prioritizes the welfare of the people.
Responding, Rt. Hon. Julius G. Pondi expressed appreciation to the group for the gesture, describing it as a strong demonstration of trust and confidence in his leadership.
“I am sincerely grateful to the Common Men Assembly for this remarkable show of support and confidence in my leadership. This gesture is not just financial, it is a strong statement of trust and shared commitment to the progress of Burutu Federal Constituency.
I accept this with deep humility and a renewed determination to continue serving our people with dedication and integrity. This investment will definitely yield positive results. I will not disappoint the Common Men Assembly and the good people of Burutu. Together, we will consolidate our achievements and move our constituency to even greater heights,” he said.
The development is seen as a significant boost to Rt. Hon. Pondi’s fourth-term ambition, reflecting growing grassroots support within the constituency.
