Burutu North 2027: Yingi Kerry Declares Intention, Seeks Leaders, Youth Support
By Joseph Bienbo, Warri
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Mr Yingi Kerry, a House of Assembly hopeful for Burutu North Constituency, on Sunday, April 26, 2026, formally declared his ambition before the Moni Seikemighan-led All Progressives Congress, APC, Executive Committee in Burutu Local Government Area.

Kerry, who was accompanied by prominent leaders, stakeholders and members of the Seimbiri Youth Political Forum led by Miss Afore Ebimoboere, said his consultative visit was to notify the LGA party leadership of his intention to contest the Burutu North seat in the Delta State House of Assembly.
Addressing the APC LGA executives, Hon. Kerry disclosed that he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and described himself as a passionate lover of politics.
“I studied Political Science in the university because I love politics. That is why I decided to practicalize it by contesting this position. As a young man, I will do my best to work for the interest of the people of Burutu North Constituency,” he stated.
Kerry pledged to prioritize development and empowerment for both youths and the elderly if given the mandate, assuring party leaders that they would not regret supporting him.
“When you give me the mandate, none of you will regret it. I will do everything humanly possible to bring the needed development and empowerment to the young and old in the constituency. I must protect the interest of our people and move Burutu North forward,” he added.
In a rare political gesture, Mr Kerry also appealed to constituents to forgive his father for any perceived shortcomings during his eight-year tenure as a member of the Delta State House of Assembly.
“On behalf of my dad, I am appealing that whatever offence anyone received from him during his eight years in the House of Assembly, please forgive him. He is a mortal being and might have offended some people in the course of service. For my sake, forgive him and give me your support,” Kerry pleaded.
He solicited the support of the party exco for the APC direct primary and the general election, assuring delegates of quality representation.
Kerry’s entourage included prominent APC figures and community leaders, among them: Hon. Ebike Oromoni, former Burutu LGA party chairman; Hon. Ozano, former LGA party secretary; Chief Sunny Gbegha; Hon. Etukuyei Gbenekepreye, leader of Seimbiri Ward 4; Comr. Afore Theodore; Hon. Afro Pudie, former councilor representing Gbekebo; Chief Tina Yingi; Hon. Daniel Yingi Junior; and Chief Preye Ajemitolu and others.
Speaking during the visit, Chief Sunny Gbegha of Ward 11 described Kerry as a humble, submissive, and respectful young man with a track record of philanthropy in Odimodi community.
“The young man declaring today is from my ward maternally. We have seen many philanthropic gestures from him in Ward 11. He renders financial help to the needy in Odimodi severally. He respects elders and his age group. I appeal to Burutu APC leadership to support him. Kerry Yingi will never disappoint you or the constituency,” Gbegha said.
Former LGA Chairman, Hon. Ebike Oromoni, from Gbekebo in Ward 9, corroborated Gbegha’s remarks, citing Kerry’s personal intervention in community lighting.
“This young man is a reliable upcoming politician. One day, Mr Kerry visited Gbekebo and saw darkness everywhere. He jokingly told his friends he would bring solar lights. To my greatest surprise, two weeks later, he brought 250 solar poles and installed them across the community with his own money. He had no intention to contest then. Go to Gbekebo and ask — you will hear testimonies,” Oromoni said.
He added: “Someone cannot easily move me to give support, but I am giving this young man my total support because he has done what surprises people without holding any government position. We need young people to take over. This is the era of youth o’clock.”
Also speaking, Hon. Etukuyei Gbenekepreye, leader of Seimbiri Ward 4, described Kerry as a “sellable aspirant” who has consistently assisted the less privileged.
“I will not say much. I join previous speakers to appeal to the exco. This young man has done tremendously for the people of this constituency without political ambition in the past. Try and give him the mandate — you will see the difference,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the LGA Executive Committee, Chairman Moni Seikemighan thanked Mr. Kerry and his team for taking the bold step to contest. He advised the aspirant to intensify consultations across all wards in Burutu North.
“You are now an adult, and we can see the caliber of persons in your team. That shows you are coming out with seriousness. Go to the people, tell them your intention,” Seikemighan said.
“Our duty as exco is to give you advice and prayers. May the Almighty God grant you your heart’s desires. Whatever position you are seeking, may it locate you in Jesus’ name, Amen,” the chairman prayed.
Burutu North Constituency comprises several riverine wards including SEIMBIRI Ward 4, Ward 7, Ward 8, Ward 9, Ward 10, and Ward 11. The 2027 race is expected to be keenly contested as more youths declare interest under the APC platform.
