Delta 2027: Group Reiterates Call For Kerry Yingi to Contest Burutu North Assembly Seat
By Joseph Bienbo, Warri
A political pressure group, the Seimbiri Political Youth Forum, SPYF, in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, has reiterated calls on young businessman Hon. Kerry Yingi to contest, the Burutu North Constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly in the 2027 general elections.
The group, led by Comrade Miss Afore Ebimoboere, said its decision followed a constituency-wide tour in search of “youthful, vibrant, and articulate” leaders capable of ushering in a new era of infrastructure and human capital development.
Addressing journalists in Burutu on Saturday, Comrade Ebimoboere explained that the forum embarked on a grassroots assessment of emerging leaders across Burutu North Constituency.
“During our tour of Seimbiri, Ogbolubiri, and Eduwini kingdoms, we came across one young, promising man known as Hon. Kerry Yingi,” she said. “From our interactions, we found that this young man has been helpful to so many people across the various kingdoms he hails from, using his personal capacity as a businessman.”
According to her, testimonies from residents pointed to Yingi’s consistent philanthropic gestures despite not holding any government office. “That singular information we got from the public space made us rally round urging him to contest the position. The act shows that if given a government office, he will do better in terms of philanthropist gestures towards humanity and infrastructure development in our constituency,” Ebimoboere stated.
The group decried what it described as decades of underdevelopment and political neglect in Burutu North, despite the constituency’s history of delivering massive votes during elections.
“Burutu North has suffered for so long without political benefits of any kind after voting massively for them. To answer the electorate’s calls becomes a problem for those we entrust our constituency,” the youth leader lamented.
She added that the forum was rejecting the old order of leadership under which “no one earns a good living” despite over two decades of representation. “Seimbiri Political Youth Forum says no to that set of leadership anymore. Therefore, it’s time for youth o’clock to change the narrative. We need infrastructural and human development now in Burutu North Constituency,” she declared.
Comrade Ebimoboere urged other youth groups and stakeholders yearning for change in Burutu North to join the call for Hon. Kerry Yingi to present himself for the 2027 contest.
“We are urging him to come forward to take up this responsibility to save Burutu North Constituency come 2027. We also urge every other group yearning for change to support us in calling out Hon. Kerry Yingi to come forward for the constituents ahead of the forthcoming general election,” she said.
While not yet a declared aspirant, Hon. Kerry Yingi is described by the group as a native of Seimbiri, Ogbolubiri, and Eduwini kingdoms who has built a reputation as a businessman and grassroots philanthropist. Residents cited by the forum credited him with personal interventions in health, education, and small business support across the three kingdoms.
Efforts to reach Hon. Yingi for comments were unsuccessful as of press time. It is not yet clear whether he will accept the group’s call to join the 2027 race for the Burutu North House of Assembly seat.
Burutu North Constituency, a riverine area in Delta State, has long grappled with challenges of coastal erosion, poor road networks, and youth unemployment — issues the Seimbiri Political Youth Forum says a youthful representative can tackle head-on.
