BURUTU NORTH — Mr. Kerry Yingi has officially declared his intention to contest the Burutu North Constituency 1 seat in the Delta State House under the platform of APC, on Thursday, May 8, 2026, drawing a large crowd of APC ward and youth supporters across the constituency’s six wards.

However, Kerry Ying was accompanied by prominent leaders and stakeholders, including Comr. Afore Ebimoboere and the Seimbiri Youths Political Forum.
According to them the turnout was massive, resembling a carnival, with many attendees arriving uninvited. They described it as evidence of strong grassroots support for Yingi’s candidacy.

“It was surprising for us in the Seimbiri Youths Political Forum. We really appreciate all the youths who came from far and near,” Ebimoboere said. “We are not ready to give a chance to the older people anymore since they have not done our bidding since 1999. That is why it is youths’ o’clock now.” Ebimoboere Afore.

At 27, Yingi is the youngest aspirant in the race. Addressing the ward executives, he formally announced his bid and appealed for their backing in the upcoming APC primaries.

“I am officially declaring to you today that I, Mr. Kerry Yingi, am contesting for the Burutu North Constituency 1 seat in the 2027 general election,” he said. “You are the only people that can make it possible for me to be in the House in Asaba. I cannot do anything on my own without your support.”

Yingi noted that with the shift to direct primaries, aspirants must engage party members directly to prove their popularity. He pledged to prioritize infrastructural development and human empowerment when elected. He also sought forgiveness on behalf of his father, who served in the same seat for eight years, acknowledging that he may have offended some constituents during his tenure.

Several political leaders endorsed Yingi’s bid. Former Burutu LGA APC Chairman Hon. Ebike Oromoni described him as respectful, loyal, and committed to Ijaw nation development. “He has never disrespected any elder or his age mates. People from Gbekebor can confirm this,” Oromoni said.

The Odimodi community Chairman Comr. NewWorld Ndoro said Yingi has consistently supported less privileged residents with his personal funds. “Whatever assistance you need from him, he will find a way to help,” Ndoro stated, urging support for both the primary and general elections.

Hon. Samson Azigbeotu, Councilor for DSIEC Ward 7 and Majority Leader of the Burutu Legislative Arm, also backed Yingi. “He is my candidate. He will not disappoint you. Send him on an errand this time and he will deliver,” he said.

The six ward chairmen, speaking through their spokesperson Comr. Clark Akpoerebo, Chairman of Ward 10, offered prayers for Yingi’s success. Ward 11 Chairman and Chairman of all ward chairmen, Hon. Agbobulagha Moses, said the executives had confirmed Yingi’s seriousness but stressed that they remain open to all aspirants. He advised Yingi to intensify consultations and seek God’s guidance.
