INC President Igbadiwei, Biakpara, Ukori, Waredi, Ikalama, Bounanaowei, Others Honoured at Congress’ 5th Anniversary

The President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Chief (Barr.) McDonald Igbadiwei, retired Nigerian Air Force Wing Commander Peter Yerindi Biakpara, and former Chairman of the defunct Egbema-Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation, Amb. Jude Ebitimi Ukori (JP), was among distinguished personalities honoured with awards of excellence at the 5th Anniversary Celebration of Congress Newspaper.

The awards were presented during the colourful 5th anniversary ceremony held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the TM Conference Centre, Airport Road, Warri, Delta State. The recognition celebrated individuals who have made remarkable contributions to leadership, community development, peacebuilding, media advancement, youth empowerment, and the overall growth of the Niger Delta region.

Other award recipients included Engr. Samson Tamaradeinyefa Seigha, Chief Executive Officer of Seikam Offshore Limited; Amb. Captain Joseph Ziko; Hon. Alubeze Asiayei Joseph; Hon. Kofee Ebisine Amasuomo; HRH Aranta Wilson, the Udu-Ijaw King; Sir Arokosimiya Ikalama, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Mighehi Security & Petroleum Nigeria Limited; King Godday Smith (Agadagba III), popularly known as the “King of the Forest”; Captain Waredi Enisuoh, Technical Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited; Comrade Warefa Pereke, Publisher of Ijaw Fie News; Amb. Godstime Ogidigba, National Chairman of the Phase 3 Amnesty Programme Delegates Forum; Amb. Truston Gbenekama, Chairman of Odidi Community; and several other deserving personalities.

Speaking during the event, Ozobo described the anniversary as a celebration of five years of resilience, courage, vision, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to truth and public service. He noted that the milestone provided an opportunity to appreciate partners, supporters, and stakeholders who have contributed to the growth of Congress Newspaper, while reaffirming the organisation’s dedication to ethical journalism, press freedom, accountability, and responsible reporting in the service of society.

The anniversary attracted government functionaries , traditional Chiefs, civil society organisations, media executives, business leaders, youth groups, and community stakeholders from across the Niger Delta. Participants commended Congress Newspaper for its consistency, professionalism, bold journalism, and commitment to amplifying the voices of the people, pledging their continued support for the media organisation’s vision and mission.
