Delta Police Arrest Five Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Two Firearms in Separate Operations

The Delta State Police Command has arrested five suspected armed robbers and kidnappers and recovered two firearms and ammunition during separate intelligence-led operations in Ughelli North and Ika South Local Government Areas of the state.

The operations, conducted by operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) and the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU), were carried out following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected criminal groups in the affected communities.

In Ughelli North, operatives of CP-SAT on October 16, 2026, raided Ujode Community following intelligence on the activities of a suspected armed robbery syndicate allegedly terrorising residents of the area. The operation led to the arrest of 29-year-old Thankgod Ejakpomewhe, while one locally made long gun and a live cartridge were recovered. Police said other suspected members of the syndicate fled the scene and efforts were ongoing to apprehend them.

In a separate operation at Alisimen Community, Ika South Local Government Area, operatives of SAKU, Ubuluku, arrested four suspects identified as Okwunzuwa Rubben, 28; John Onyeka, 42; Uzoma Ifeyinwa, 20; and Osas Atoe, 22. The raid on the suspected criminal hideout led to the recovery of a reported double-barrelled pump-action firearm, a laptop, six mobile phones, a camouflage cap and jacket. A further search of the suspects’ residence also resulted in the recovery of five live cartridges.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, psc, mnips, commended the operatives for their diligence and reaffirmed the Command’s determination to dismantle criminal networks and prevent the illicit circulation of firearms across the state.

CP Erale warned criminal elements to desist from their activities or face decisive action within the law, while urging residents to continue providing the Police with credible and timely information that could assist ongoing efforts to combat armed robbery, kidnapping and other violent crimes.
