Again, Catholic priest abducted in Plateau

Suspected bandits on Sunday night kidnapped Rev James Kantoma, a Catholic priest of St Anthony’s Parish, Angware community in the Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State.

It was gathered that Kantoma is also the Chairman, of the Christian Association of Nigeria in the council area.

A close source said the Catholic priest was whisked away by the gunmen at his house in the community.

The source said the gunmen trailed him to his community at night and moved straight to the house of the Reverend Father and kidnapped him.

“Some youths in the area, who were alerted, tried to stop and even gave them a hot chase into the bush but the gunmen started shooting everywhere and eventually took the Reverend Father away,” he added.

The state CAN chairman Polycarp Lubo, who also confirmed the incident, expressed shock about the development.

Lubo said since the gunmen took the Reverend Father away, they have not heard anything either from him or the abductors up till this morning.
