Suspected students of Nigeria Universities have blocked the busy Sagamu-Benin Expressway in a protest over the persisting strike action by Nigeria Federal Universities.

It was gathered that the protest was jointly carried out by students of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Tai Solarin University of Education, Science and Technology (TASUED) Ijagun and the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), Abeokuta.

According to NAN, travellers and motorists were stranded for hours as the TASUED axis of the expressway was as well blocked by students.

Protesting students carried placards of different inscription “End ASUU strike now”, “ We say no to educational stagnancy”, “ We’re tired of deadlock meetings” and “Education should not be this difficult” among others.

The Lagos state Chairman of NANS, Damilola Simeon, had called on the Buhari-led administration to comply with ASUU demands, and reopen varsities on strike for academy work.

He added that it was high time the federal government and members of ASUU reached a compromise to end the strike.

“We don’t pray that our students end up engaging themselves in criminal activities as we all know that an idle hand is the devil’s workshop,” he noted.

President, Student Union Government of TASUED, Don Ayomide, as well said the action became imperative to pass a message the federal government and ASUU of the plight of Nigerian students.
