Agediga, Mulade,Yeibo, Ozobo, Ekanpou, Tom, Abraye, activists, others grace Binebai’s funeral
It was like a carnival as Burutu was agog with dignitaries as Chief Tom Michael Binebai was laid to final rest at his home town, Burutu on Saturday.
It was learnt that Amb. Shedrack Agediga, Executive Director of PRS Desopadec, Frontline Niger Delta environmental activist, Chief Sheriff Mulade, Niger Delta foremost activist and now SA to the governor of Delta state, Comrade Ozobo Austin, Mr Ekanpou Enewaridideke, SA to Governor Okowa on political matters, Dr Ebi Yeibo, a poet and lecturer in NDU, Dr. Abraye and Hon. Tom Willy were among personalities that graced the historical funeral rites of late chief Binebai.
The event was full of merriment and excitements though with mixed feelings of deep condolences and sympathy.
Several cultural displays were done to honour the home calling of the deceased, who has been a custodian of the traditional institution of the Iduwini kingdom.
Also present were traditional Chiefs, Delta Ijaw Comrade community, Ogulagha kingdom leaders, Burutu community leadership, PDP and APC faithful, Academic professors, staff of Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State, Academic Doctors, Lecturers from various varsities in the country, Government functionaries, political appointees, and elective officeholders, IYC and others.
Late Binebai was the father of Prof. Benedict Binebai, the orator of Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa state and grandfather to the publisher of the Liberator newspaper, Princewill Binebai.
Recall, that Chief Binebai died on January 25, 2022, after a prolonged illness and was buried on April 2, 2022.
