The All Progressive Congress, APC Cross River State political crisis has taken another dimension as the party Exco passed vote of confidence on the embattled state chairman.

In a meeting convened by the Deputy State Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Cross River State, Prince Eka Williams, on Tuesday, the State Exco passed a vote of Confidence on the State Chairman Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba JP.

The State Exco hailed the enormous effort Eba had put in, stating that he had done well to ensure the Party remained in charge of the State. He further emp had performed creditably well which had earned an overwhelming victory for the APC in the State.

According to a release signed by Erasmus Ekpang, APC cross River state Publicity Secretary, part of the statement reads;

“The excos commended the Chairman for sustaining the unity of the party with his PLUG mantra (Peace, Love, Unity Growth) and ensuring that there is no rancor in the party.

“It observed that the call for the Chairman to resign by a notable member of the Party was ill-timed and without recourse to his sterling leadership and performance which has kept the Party afloat. Noting that, ‘…an injury to one is an injury to ALL. Let us stand with our own”

The Exco said that the State Chairman led the Party to a 90 percent victory in the 2023 general elections within the two years of joining the APC and being saddled with the responsibility of leading the Party.

“The Chairman is a man of strategies and that is why he led APC in Cross River to landslide victory for the first time since the Party has been contesting in previous elections.

“He (Eba) is also is a man of justice who stood firmly as a strong advocate of the ‘back to Southern Senatorial zone’, which has been achieved by the Party, whereby the Party and Cross Riverians now have a sense of belonging and are happy that this time around the Governor is from among them.

“The vote of confidence passed on him by the State’s Executive and Working Committee is not far-fetched because he is a strong voice of the Party and has proven his unalloyed commitment to the wellbeing of the Party, he was able to weather through various political storms the opposition posed, he has never been intimidated.”

“We have to remain glued together and ensure he has the best support to forge ahead, the expectations of the opposition that the Party will implode must be dashed to pieces.

“We urge members of our great Party to remain steadfast and supportive of the Alphonsus Ogar Eba-led Exco.”
