• Delta govt urged to sack him if fails to reopen the school

The Vice-Chancellor of Delta State University, Abraka, Prof. Andy has been accused of deliberate moves to destroyed the academic calendar of Delta state University to pacify his ASUU friends.

Angry students in a statement called for sack of the VC Delta State University if he refused to reopen the school and start lectures.

The statement said the Delta State Government had been paying the said allowances which purportedly formed the basis of its strike since past 15years till date, along with staff salaries in higher education institutions in the state.

The students name (withheld) narrated: “The Delta State Government has been paying the said allowances since over 15years till date, along with staff salaries in higher education institutions in the state.

“It is therefore not owing any staff the allowances on which basis the federal universities have dragged neophyte State Universities’ Vice Chancellors into this mess.

“The federal universities have not been enjoying these allowances. DELSU therefore has no business crying more than the bereaved. DELSU has no business joining the strike. The Delta State Government is being portrayed in very bad light.” We understand that the Vice Chancellor, Andy Egwunyenga and the Commissioner for Higher Education, Pat Muoboghare, both former DELSU ASUU Chairmen brought back ASUU into the arm of the National Body.

“We Deltans new that there will be no more stable academic calendar thereafter. He, Andy Egwueyenga and his friend, Pat Muoboghare had invited the serpent into DELSU and we knew it was only waiting to strike and it has painfully struck.

“We have been proven right. It was a monumental mistake on the part of the VC and Pat Muoboghare to have done what they did. They have destroyed the past five years of stable academic calendar established by the past administration for lack of vision.

“We call on the Visitor to the university, HE Senator Dr. Okowa to immediately direct the Commissioner for Higher EDUCATION and the VC to get the university opened and call back the students and commence lectures immediately or else stop salaries and over four million naira security allowance of the vice chancellor and other allowances over three million and also the salary of the Commissioner of Higher EDUCATION, Pat Muoboghare. They are out to destroy your hood works”, the asserted.

However, efforts to reach the commissioner of higher education, Patrick Muoboghare was unfruitful, as calls and WhatsApp message put across were not responded to at press time.
