Military launches manhunt for killers of a top ranked soldier in Warri

The military of 3 battalions has mounted a manhunt for suspected gunmen who reportedly gun down the operation officer of the Effurun Barracks, Delta state on Friday.

The sad incident reportedly occurred at the late hours of Friday, Mar 11, 2022, at Enerhen Road.

It was gathered the deceased officer was driving his private car along the Enerhen road when he was accosted and shot to death immediately by yet to be identified gunmen.

A statement alleged to be emanated from the military barracks, though it was not signed stated: “Information reaching our Security Intelligence Unit reveals that the Operations Officer of 3 Battalion Warri was gruesomely murdered by yet to be identified gunmen in the late hours of Friday, Mar 11, 2022, at Enerhen Road. As a result, the military authorities have launched a manhunt for the culprits involved in the murder.

“Given the above, staff are kindly advised on the need to exercise extra security precautions and vigilance, particularly within Enerhen and its environs. We are strongly advised to avoid late-night movements around these troubled areas and Warri in general.

“The Security Team will continue to monitor this situation and provide the necessary updates as required”, the statement added.
