Bigborogha II Evah’s Tournament: Oyangbene, Akparemo Advance to Finals

After emerging victorious in the opening matches and semi-final stages, Oyangbene and Akparemo communities have secured their spots in the finals of the Evah’s Tournament. The championship match is scheduled to take place on Friday at Kiagbodo, the traditional headquarters of the Ngbilebiri-Mein Kingdom, at the Edwin Clark University, football pitch at 4pm.

 

The winning team will receive a cash prize of N100,000, a football cup, a set of jerseys, and a football. The runner-up will be awarded a set of jerseys and N80,000. Furthermore, the linemen and referee will receive N50,000.

 

The tournament, which commenced on Monday, features six teams from the Omolo, Kiagbodo, Bikorogha, Ayakoromo, Akparemo, and Oyangbene communities. The event is part of the passage rites for the late Pere Bigborogha II and is organized by Supper Comrade Joseph Evah, national coordinator of the Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG).

 

Joseph Evah, a renowned philanthropist, mentor, political analyst, and freedom fighter in the Niger Delta region, has been instrumental in organizing this tournament as a fitting tribute to the departed monarch. The event showcases the unity and sportsmanship of the participating teams, making it a memorable farewell to Pere Bigborogha II.
