Bobo Describes Tompolo As National Asset, Urges FG to Always Protect him
By Peters Monday, Abuja
Ex- Niger Delta agitator, Comr. Tonye Bobo, has commended the Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, for the significant role he played to ramp up crude oil production in Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement he personally signed and issued to newsmen in Yenagoa during the week end.
“We are very proud of Tompolo for securing crude oil pipelines in the region, without fear and intimidation,” he added.
It would be recalled that Tompolo recently alleged a threat to his life by some oil thieves in Lagos and Abuja as well as an attack on Tantita operatives within Rivers State.
Responding to Tompolo’s revelation in a press statement on Saturday, Bobo said it is “not surprising that there is a threat to his life by those who have been sabotaging the country’s economy via their nefarious activities.
“Given the exceptional pipeline surveillance work Tompolo has been doing with his Tantita security firm, attacks in all forms are expected against him by desperate criminals who are milking the country through illegal oil activities.”
He averred that without the efforts of Tompolo and his security outfit, the NNPCL may have found it very difficult to achieve the much celebrated 1.8m BPD mark.
“Tompolo has incredibly been looking after our national oil assets. If not for his efforts, we probably would have been a long way behind in the targeted 2m barrel per day in crude oil production.
“Therefore the contributions of this great Niger Deltan to the nation’s economy cannot be overemphasized and he deserves all the commendations he has been getting for a job well done,” he said.
Bobo, who is the immediate past national chairman of Third Phase Ex-agitators Forum of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), said that Tompolo through his surveillance contract has also meaningfully engaged thousands of youths in the Niger Delta region.
According to him, “if not for the job opportunities created through the surveillance contract, many youths in the region would have been indulging in sea piracy, cultism, kidnaping, militancy and other criminal activities that once plagued our region.”
The ex-agitator said that such a scenario would be deleterious to the Niger Delta region and to the country at large.
“It is on this note that we expect the Federal Government of Nigeria to protect Tompolo against vindictive and unpatriotic elements who are said to be making relentless efforts to take revenge on him.
“Nothing should happen to our leader (Tompolo) who is making a great sacrifice to ensure Nigeria does not go bankrupt, because any injury to Tompolo will be an injury to the entire Niger Delta and the whole country.
“The Federal Government should treat Tompolo’s revelations, particularly the threat to his life, with levity. He is more or less a national asset that should be protected at all cost, if Nigeria must win this war against oil theft,” Bobo said.
