Breaking: Senate Confirms Wike as Minister

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, as minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Rivers State Ministerial Nominee and immediate Past Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike says President Bola Tinubu will not regret nominating him to work in his cabinet

Wike who was a Presidential Aspirant under the platform of the PDP served as a Chief of staff in 2007 to the government of Rivers State.

He served as Minister of State Education under the Jonathan Administration.

He also served as two-term Governor of Rivers State from 2015 till 2023.

Wike during his screening said As a governor he changed the landscape of Rivers State as result of infrastructural development he brought to the state

He added that as a governor he constructed 12 flyovers in four years and ensured he remained in the state to bring about change in the various sectors.

Wike says he left office as a hero and continued to commission projects few days to the end of his administration.

Deputy President of the Senate Barau Jibrin Commended Wike for his infrastructural development in the state, and progress made in education and other sectors of the state.

Senator Mpigi Barinada representing Rivers North who spoke on behalf of the other Rivers Lawmakers said Wike is the best from Rivers State and remains a role model.

He added that Five million residents of Rivers State have endorsed him.
