The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP women leader, Burutu Local Government Area, Mrs Helen Layagbe is dead.

According to a statement, she passed on Friday in a general hospital in Warri after a brief illness and prompt medical attention.

This was contained in a statement by the PDP publicity secretary, Mr Afore Theodore, Seimbiri Ward 4 on Saturday afternoon.

He said the women leader who died on Friday hailed from Edegbene community in Burutu Local Government Area of the state.

While commiserating with the family, Afore said her death is a big blow to the Burutu Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Seimbiri Ward 4, her immediate family and the entire Burutu people.

He said that Mrs Helen Layagbe served the Burutu people meritoriously, with humility, dedication and hard work to ensure PDP came top at every electioneering period.

Afore added that Helen died when her wealth of political experience was needed mostly for the forthcoming LGA election in the state to strategically reposition things in the council area.

He prayed to God to grant the late Layagbe and PDP families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

However, Afore appealed to Burutu political leadership to massively participate and support the family for the burial ceremony of the late Mrs Helen Layagbe.
