China, Binaebi families write Gov Okpebholo, IGP, Chief of Army Staff To Bring Okubo, Others To Justice Over Murder

Following the alleged murder of one
Ernest Binaebi at Inikorogha waterside and attempted assassination of one China Samuel by alleged Robert Okubor and his gang, the families of the both victims have continued to call for justice and end in criminal activities in the Edo State waterways.

In this special report, the families called on the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Monday Ikpebholo, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede and Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5 and Commander, 4th Brigade, Benin, Edo State to swing into action by bringing the alleged Robert and his gang to justice for murder, kidnapping, gun running and assassination attempt on several persons.

According to an interview with one of the victims Mr China Samuel who received a brutal gun blast on his leg said the crime was committed between 2020 in the Enekorogha community and its surroundings in Ovia South West Local government area of Edo State.

China told our reporter that on the 10th December 2020, Robert alleged criminal gang, led by one Ekeme, including Pereke, Alhaji, Timi, Ebiye, Beyesigha, Utah and others came to mile 3 to attack and brutally shot at him which he narrowly escaped death.

He narrated that immediately the armed gang got to where he was, they descended on him and rushed him to the ground, and Ekeme, the gang leader stepped forward and started asking him questions like, why refusing to join their gang and before he could know he was brutally shot on the leg.

China stated further that before that day, the alleged leader of the riverine area criminal gang, Mr Robert who loved killing fellow Izons called him severally to allow him to take over his sand business site in the community but he refused.

He emphasised during the interview, “I’m an indigene of the Inikorogha community, Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State. My name is China Samuel. On this particular day, 10th December 2020, Ekeme led Robert Okubor criminal group, including Pereke, Alhaji, Timi, Ebiye, Beyesigha, Utah and others to mile 3 to assassinate me. Immediately they got to where l was, they descended on me and rushed me to the ground, one Ekeme stepped forward, started asking me questions like, why refusing to join their team. I replied to them that l can’t join them because they oppress people a lot. Before that day, the leader of this criminal gang in the riverine area, one Okubo Robert who loved killing fellow Izons called me severally to allow him to take over my sand business, which l said no to it.

“However, the militants that followed Ekeme began to attack me in a desperation for me to give in to become their member, but when they saw that am not ready despite the torture, the said Ekeme pulled out a pumping machine gun and opened fired on my leg. My leg got scattered including the bone in the process. l almost died. My parents millions to save my life. I don’t think l will survive the brutal shot to claim by life but God did it for me to stay alive to tell the sad story. Since then l limp to walk. When their criminal boss, Okubo was informed of the assignment, he asked them to bring me in the pool of blood. On seeing me, he mocked me and again told me to leave my sand business for him, which l refused despite being in pain.

“Meantime, when he saw the way my mother was crying that l was about to die, he directed his terrorists to take me to a local place where they treated gun wounds. It was from there my family moved me out without their knowledge because information came that they were planning to finally silence me. After leaving the place, Hon. Godstime Ogidigba and other leaders who are opposed to Okubo terror and oppressive acts took me to hospital as you see in these pictures for scan and treatment, where it was discovered that several bullets were still in the leg. In fact, 15 bullets were removed from the leg. Since then l have been in pain, several times in the night l cried when l look at my leg, how Okubo , Ekeme and their criminal boys turned me to handicap, and as you are reading me now, these terrorists have not changed from their evil ways, in fact it is getting worse day by day because since APC return to power in Edo State, the peace, security and freedom that riverine areas, Inikorogha community to be precised enjoyed has gone, with torture, beaten, maiming, intimidation, forceful take over of farm land, properties and other forms of criminal activities now order of the day.

“As we speak, people are now banished from the community, with an influx of militants from Ondo, Delta States and nearby communities to cause havoc and pain. Am using this opportunity to appeal to the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, IGP, 4 Brigade commander, AIG, CP and Tompolo to come to my and our people rescue in making sure that justice is done because being a member of a political party should not be license to kill, destroy lives and property.

“Again, this same gang led by Okubo on 13/11/2013 in broad day light killed Ernest Ebinebi at Inikorogha waterside. After killing him, they used his corpse to dance round the community in a wheelbarrow as you can see in this picture, From there one Henry Okenren, Ekeme and their terrorist boys removed his tongue, eyes, heart and other sensitive parts for ritual purposes.
The most sad aspect of it, is that nobody knows the whereabouts of the corpse up to this moment. This is the core reason the family keeps crying that they need the body of their son for proper burial. However several of these calls channeled to the security agents are yet to receive a good response,”, he maintained.
