Confab condemns killing of Military, Civilian in Delta Community, condoles with Army •Demands respect for rights despite provocation

The Conference For The Actualisation Of Human Rights, CAHR, popularly known as Confab has condoled with the Nigerian Army and the families of the ambushed 16 soldiers and civilian who died in an unprovoked attacked while on a peace mission at Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the group, Omes Ogedegbe Esq described the killing as the most tragic event in recent times as it consists of one Lt. Colonel, two Majors, one Captain, and 12 soldiers with the civilian who was a former Supervosory councillor for Works in Bomadi Local Government Council.

The statement further reads, “The killing deserves the highest condemnation as they were merely responding to a distress call to rescue an abducted indegene of Okoloba community in Okuama community in Ughelli South local government area of Delta State on Thursday 14th March, 2024 before they were allegedly attacked and killed by some Okuoma community youths without provocation.

“While we demand for a full scale investigation and call on all security agencies to ensure those involved in these dastardly act are brought to justice. We demand the complete adhere to the rule of law, fundamental rights objectives and principles in the cause of the investigation as history has shown that the perpetrators will never wait foe the repercussion of their actions making the weak and vulnerable the victims hence our demand.

“We convey our deepest condolences to the Nigeria army and the families of the victims as this is tragic”, he added.
