Coup Plotters Have One Week To Restore Bazoum As President – ECOWAS

Following the coup plot in Niger Republic, the authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African State, ECOWAS, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the military to restore ousted President Muhammed Bazoum.

This is according to a decision made by the chairman, the president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stated this in Abuja, the country’s capital following its deliberations on developments in Niger Republic.

Recall, President Mohammed Bazoum has been held by the members of his presidential guards for days.

On Friday, the commander of Niger Republic presidential guards, Gen. Abdourahamane Tchiani, declared himself the head of a transitional government.
