Court remands two suspects over murder of a driver

The Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State capital has remanded two suspects for allegedly being involved in the lynching of a 25-year-old driver, Tope Olorunfemi, in the State.

Two suspects, allegedly involved in the lynching of 25-year-old driver, Tope Olorunfemi, in Ondo State, have been remanded in a correctional facility.

The names of the suspects were given as Victor Amos, 30, and Pelumi Farotimi, 42, and were remanded in the Olokuta Correctional Centre by a Magistrate Court.

The deceased was allegedly killed on Easter Monday by an angry mob after his car ran over some road users on Ijoka Road.

The suspects and others at large were accused of committing the offence on April 10, 2023, at 9 pm when they beat, stoned and lynched the victim, according to the charge.

According to the police Sections 324, 316(1), and 451(6)(J) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 2, Laws of Ondo State, were violated.

However, bail was granted to three of the defendants who were arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court in Akure and others were remanded.
