CP Yemi Oyeniyi Continues Familiarization Tour to Ogwashi-Uku, Calls for Professional Policing and Stronger Community Partnership

The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, has reaffirmed the Delta State Police Command’s commitment to professional, intelligence-led policing and stronger collaboration with communities as he continued his strategic familiarization tour of Area Commands across the state.

During his visit to the Ogwashi-Uku Area Command on Tuesday, the Commissioner held separate interactive sessions with police personnel and key stakeholders in line with the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

Addressing officers and men of the command, CP Oyeniyi charged them to maintain the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, integrity, respect for human rights, and civility in the discharge of their duties. He also stressed strict adherence to the Nigeria Police Force Social Media Policy, warning against unauthorized online engagements or any social media activities capable of tarnishing the image of the Force.

The Commissioner further reiterated the Inspector-General’s zero-tolerance policy on extortion, corruption, abuse of office, and other forms of misconduct, urging officers to embrace ethical, intelligence-driven, and community-oriented policing.

As part of the visit, the Police Commissioner met with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth representatives, vigilante groups, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), and representatives of the Arewa, Yoruba, and Igbo communities.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister of the Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom, who represented the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom, as well as the Obi of Nsukwa and other prominent stakeholders.

CP Oyeniyi emphasized that effective policing depends on public trust, credible intelligence, and sustained collaboration between the police and the communities they serve. He called on residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and actionable information to aid crime prevention and law enforcement.

He also commended stakeholders for their continued partnership with the police and assured them of the command’s unwavering commitment to proactive policing, intelligence-led operations, and the protection of lives and property across Delta State.
