The former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), has challenged the military to stop the killings and the insecurity in the country.

Meanwhile, Danjuma made the statement during a book presentation in Abuja, titled “Big Boots: Lessons from My Military Service,” authored by Maj. Gen. Solomon Udounwa (retd.), adding that the military doesn’t have any excuse not to stop the killing and insecurity in the country

He also said, “The challenges we are facing today is insecurity. We must stop the pandemic and the incessant killings and insecurity bedeviling our country as soon as possible. Those of you who are still serving have no excuses; absolutely no!”

However, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, in his response, said “military is working tirelessly and assiduously to restore peace across the length and breath of the country, adding that the Armed Forces would continue to uphold the tenets and values of the service, integrity, and honour that define the military tradition.

He also emphasized that, “Let me mention here our distinguished chairman that the Armed Forces of Nigeria are positioned, willing, dedicated, and committed to ensure that peace, security challenges are restored in our own dear country. We shall not be deterred. There are going to be challenges, yes, but that’s why we’re here. I want to insure you that we have learned a lot from your track record, very, very distinguished senior officers who have modeled us all through the years. We cannot afford to fail and we will not fail”, he added.
