A civic group, the Concerned Sons and Daughters of Isoko Kingdom for Good Governance, has called on voters in Isoko North and Isoko South Local Government Areas to carefully vet current and aspiring lawmakers ahead of the 2027 general elections, accusing serving representatives of failing the Isoko Nation.

In a statement released to journalists, the group’s coordinator, Gen. Omogha Wilson Ajiri, said the Isoko people must “take the bull by the horn” and conduct a thorough assessment of the performance of all officeholders and candidates seeking to represent the area.

“Despite having an Isoko son as senator, members of the Federal House of Representatives, state House of Assembly members, and council chairmen in Isoko North and Isoko South, the Isoko Nation is still living in total darkness and remains underdeveloped,” Ajiri stated.

He argued that many of those currently in office are prioritizing personal, family, and associates’ interests over the development of the wider Isoko community.

“We urge the Isoko Nation to wake up and shine our eyes come 2027, to select people of good reputation who have the interest of developing Isoko Nation at heart,” he said. “The people currently occupying these offices are there for their personal interest and that of their family members and friends, and not for the interest of Isoko Nation.”

Ajiri reaffirmed the group’s commitment to advancing development in Isoko and across Delta State. He called on residents to hold leaders accountable and vote for candidates with a proven commitment to public service in the upcoming polls.

The statement adds to growing calls across Delta State for greater accountability and performance-based voting as political activities begin to build toward 2027.
