Delta Chief Judge, Justice Diai Completes Second Quarter Visits to Correctional Centres

The Chief Judge of Delta State, Hon. Justice Tessy Diai, has concluded her visits to the five Custodial Centres in the state for the second quarter. The visits, which began on July 1, 2024, aimed to review awaiting trial warrants and ensure the speedy conclusion of cases.
During the visits, a total of 1,298 awaiting trial warrants were reviewed, and several inmates were released on the advice of the Director of Public Prosecution. Justice Diai commended the efforts of Judges, Magistrates, and the Ministry of Justice in ensuring the smooth operation of the criminal justice system.
She emphasized the importance of diversifying trials and praised the improvement seen in the system. The Chief Judge expressed gratitude to all involved and looked forward to the third quarter visits, acknowledging the challenges but reaffirming their commitment to ensuring access to fair trials and speedy conclusion of cases.
