Delta community cries out over collapsed secondary school building

Residents of Obotebe community, Burutu Local Government Area have cried out to the Delta State government to fix the collapsed six classrooms secondary school block in the community.

Stakeholders who spoke to Congress correspondent in Warri on Friday said the school building was built since military administration and was due for replacement long ago.

According to sources, the collapsed building was meant for JSS1 to SS3, adding that since the collapse of the building students are now taking lessons in the community’s primary school.

Comrade Asiayei Enaibo who also posted in his Facebook timeline said relevant authorities and the Delta State government have abandoned the school and community.

He said the delay in rebuilding the collapsed Obotebe secondary school was clear neglect of riverine education by the Delta state government and leaders representing the area in government.

He called on Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi, member representing Burutu Federal Constituency, Hon. Asura Forteta, a member representing Burutu North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly committed to rebuilding the collapsed school structure without further delay.
