Delta CP Strengthens Security Ties with Army, NDLEA Through Strategic Visits
By Chukwunonso Eric, Warri.
In a renewed push to bolster security coordination, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, has led the Command’s management team on strategic courtesy visits to the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, reaffirming the importance of inter-agency collaboration in tackling crime.
The visits, which took place on Monday, April 27, 2026, were part of ongoing efforts by the Delta State Police Command to strengthen partnerships with key security and enforcement agencies in addressing evolving security challenges across the state.
During the engagements, CP Oyeniyi stressed that major crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, child trafficking, and drug-related offences are interconnected and require a unified, intelligence-driven response. He noted that no single agency can effectively combat these threats in isolation, calling for deeper cooperation, intelligence sharing, and joint operations among security stakeholders.
At the NDLEA Delta State Command, the police chief highlighted the urgent need for coordinated action against drug trafficking and abuse, describing the menace as a significant driver of criminal activities and a growing threat to young people.
He commended both agencies for their continued support and contributions to maintaining security in the state, urging sustained synergy to enhance public safety.
In their responses, the Brigade Commander, M. A. Shonibare, and the NDLEA State Commander, Halilu Hamidu, lauded the Delta State Police Command for its proactive approach to crime prevention. They both reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration through intelligence sharing, joint operations, and institutional cooperation.
The visits underscore the Command’s resolve to promote a coordinated and strategic approach to crime prevention, as security agencies in Delta State continue to align efforts in safeguarding lives and property.
