The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Yemi Oyeniyi, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to professional policing, human rights compliance, and public safety during a supervisory tour of strategic security locations along the Ughelli–Patani Expressway.

The inspection exercise, conducted on June 5, formed part of the Command’s ongoing visibility policing strategy aimed at strengthening security operations and enhancing public confidence in law enforcement across the state.

During the tour, the Police Commissioner visited key security flashpoints and checkpoints, including Edjekota Junction, Evwreni Junction, Ohoro Junction, and other stop-and-search points along the expressway. He assessed operational deployments, interacted with officers on duty, and evaluated their level of preparedness in addressing security challenges within the area.

While commending officers for their dedication and commitment to duty, CP Oyeniyi emphasized that the Command would not tolerate any form of misconduct capable of undermining public trust in the Nigeria Police Force. He directed personnel to maintain proper dressing, professional appearance, and exemplary conduct while carrying out their responsibilities.

The Police Commissioner further charged officers to remain vigilant and proactive in their operations, urging them to engage members of the public with courtesy, civility, and respect. He cautioned against acts of harassment, abuse, or any behavior that violates the rights of citizens, stressing that modern policing must be people-centered and firmly rooted in respect for human rights.

According to him, officers must carry out their duties with professionalism and integrity, ensuring that all policing activities reflect the core values and standards of the Nigeria Police Force.

CP Oyeniyi also reassured residents of Delta State that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property. He called on members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist in crime prevention and detection.

The tour underscores the Delta State Police Command’s efforts to strengthen accountability, improve operational effectiveness, and promote a more professional and citizen-focused policing culture across the state.

The statement was issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, on June 6, 2026.
