Delta PDP holds mega rally amid controversy of guber candidate

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Delta state has converged in the University Stadium of Ozoro town in the state on Saturday amidst the raging war over the party’s authentic governorship candidate.

It was gathered that the party’s governorship candidate was omitted from the INEC’s recently published list of successful governorship candidates in the 2023 general election.

It was insinuated in many quarters earlier that the party’s Mega rally was to unveil the governorship candidate of the party but the chairman of the party while addressing the PDP faithful, said the rally was meant to receive defecting members of the All Progressives Congress APC in the state.

Barrister Kingsley Esiso admitted that the party does not have a candidate now, adding that INEC will fix the party’s governorship candidate after the pending appeal between Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and Chief David Edevbie.

Recall, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja upturned the governorship primary victory of Sheriff Oborevwori in the penultimate month following an alleged case of perjury, and further declared David Edevbie, the second runner in the party’s governorship primary election as the governorship candidate of the party.

However, Oborevwori had gone to the appeal court to challenge the judgement of the Abuja Federal High Court upturning his victory.
