Edo 2024: Pro-Ighodalo Group Storms PDP Secretariat For Declaration

Members of Barrister Dr. Asue Ighodalo Movement, a non- governmental organization devoted to marketing and projecting the boardroom guru to Nigerians, especially people of Edo in the forthcoming Governorship election in September has massively attended the governorship flag-off ceremony of their principal Barrister Dr. Asue Ighodalo in Edo State on Wednesday.

It was a carnival like atmosphere as members of the group, led by the leader Mr. John Aloye joyfully danced to the music tunes of Disck Jockey to the delight of everyone who besieged the people’s Democratic Party Secretariat where the man of the moment officially declared his ambition.

Addressing news men, Hon. Daniel Ezekiel, a strong advocate of Dr. Asue Ighodalo ambition, who is equally a member of the movement said that their principal is the best among various contestants jostling to take over from Governor Godwin Obaseki.

His words, “Dr. Asue Ighodalo is a man with Midas touch who over the years had demonstrated extreme capacity in the private sector that gave birth to sterling bank, Dangote flowers mill, catapulted Nigerian Breweries and Okomu oil to become leading players in Nigerian economy.

“As a thorough egg head, he keep using his brain power to mould policy formulation in Edo state in the last 15 years from behind the scene.
Electing him by people of the state will be a perfect step to take the state to the next level”.

The PDP leading aspirant, Ighodalo, who is the former chairman of the Alaghodaro Economic Summit, said that with his sixteen years of involvement in the governance of the State at the advisory level, he had identified areas of focus to achieve success with governance.

While speaking he noted, “These are the reasons I am here today, with the greatest humility, to formally declare my intention to run for the office of the Governor of Edo State on the platform of our great Party, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

“And to respectfully seek the support of all Edo State people everywhere, male and female, old and young, those at home and those in the Diaspora without whom true progress is impossible.

“Let us shun the narratives that seek to divide us, and come together, as one, to build the bridges that will lead us to prosperity. Let us strive to be the best, because only the best is good enough for us all.

“While, in the past, | have advised our leaders on how to resolve some of these problems.

“But today, I am here to ask you for the opportunity to act – beyond giving advice – to deliver real solutions that can unleash the promise of a new future for all of us.

“As governor, by the grace of God, my mission will be to create an Edo where quality education is accessible to all, where hard work is rewarded and where our talented youth can turn their dreams and aspirations into reality.

“I believe in the promise of an Edo where every person, regardless of their start in life, can write their own story of success -if we take the right steps, together.

“I am particularly excited at the opportunities that we will be able to unlock, to engage the passion and ingenuity of our youth, who are the shining lights of this State.”

“My greatest desire is for their creativity and latent energy to be unleashed positively upon our country and world,” the frontline PDP aspirant added.

John Yakubu, former House of Representatives member representing Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Federal Constituency, Hon. Friday Itulah; past senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District, Sen. Clifford Ordia; and House of Representatives member representing Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun, during the official declaration of Ighodalo for governorship at the Edo PDP Secretariat in Benin City, on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
