The Descendants of Eweye (Pologbene) host community in Egbema kingdom in Warri North local government area of Delta State while warning impostors claiming ownership of the community to desist, emphasised that Enageed Resources Ltd should recognise the community being the bonafide descendants of the community.

This was disclosed in a meeting held by the bonafide descendants of Eweye (Pologbene) community on Tuesday.

The descendants warned impostors impersonating as descendants of Oweye, popularly known as Pologbene to desist to avoid being descend upon by instruments of the law.

Speaking at the meeting the community chairman, Mr Zipumotei Jumobia called on the state, federal governments and Enageed Resources Ltd to come and identify with them.

They further stated that the continued recognition of impostors in the place of the bonafide descendants may disrupt the oil operations of the Enageed Resources Ltd in the long run.

The chairman while addressing the descendants disclosed a brief history of of Eweye community, “Mama Eweye Kungbolu and are children founded the communities now known and called Pologbene 1 & 2, Eweye and other neighboring communities within Pologbene Oil field formerly under OML 1 operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC). This was the first Oil Mining Lease Issued by the Government of Nigeria even before Oloibiri.

” The latter became popular because it had a better commercial quantity while Pologbene field was abandoned for the Escravos field for reasons best known to SPDC. There were originally two oil wells named Eweye 1 and 2 or Pologbene 1&2 which are now under OML 148 as acquired by Enageed Resources Limited.

“The Late Eweye kungbolu found this village as a fishing settlement and from where she gave birth to late Pa. Ikuti and other female children who lived with her to carry out fishing, boat carving and lumbering. Pa. Ikuti Jomobia who was the only surviving son and his female siblings gave birth to the founders of other villages around the Oil field.

“Mama Eweye died under mysterious circumstances but suspected to have been assassinated because of resources deposited in the area during exploration activities. Her corpse was also stolen as no one was able to recover it despite frantic efforts by sympathizers and her children.

“She was survived by one son Late Pa. Ikuti Jomobia who also died under questionably mysterious circumstance when he started agitating against the manner of the death of his mother. The other siblings were all females and could not do much to fight for the family. Eweye had siblings and half brothers that were resident in the parent Ofunama Town, Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State and were majorly into farming. Eweye had serious legal issues with neighboring communities but was supported by only few of her siblings while the others discarded her because they had no interest in the swamp or any riverine businesses.

“Today we are holding a general meeting of all Eweye descendants to share ideas on the development of the Community. You are all welcome to Eweye Community, Pologbene, Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State”, he added.
