End military rascality, brutality in Igbomotoru community-IPDI tells Gov. Diri
By Anita Godfrey
Foremost Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI has expressed disappointment in Bayelsa State Governor senator Douye Diri over what it described as graveyard silence in the face of military rampage and brutality in the Igbomotoru community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
This was made available to Congress correspondent in Bayelsa state in a statement signed by its national president Comrade Ozobo Austin on Monday.
The statement urged Governor Diri to wake up to the occasion of the inhuman treatment meted out to the Igbomotoru people in the state by some kindergarten soldiers imposed on the community unlawfully.
Ozobo said only an irresponsible government would allow her innocent citizens to be brutalised and remain silent.
According to the statement, “we are sure Governor Diri is aware of the military onslaught and manhunt on law-abiding citizens in Igbomotoru community where worship centres were desecrated.
“We are sure the Bayelsa government is aware of military brutality against innocent old women, housewives, elders, youths and community leaders.
“Why Douye Diri is so silent in the face of all these? Let him act and stop the military rampage in the community so that we will not begin to think that he is part of the conspiracy theory being demonstrated in the Igbomotoru community.
“It is part of our demand that the military should be called to order to stop further harassment of members of the community and equally evacuate the military from the community since there is no war to warrant military presence in the community,” the group asserted.
