The Egbema Youth Council, EYC, in Warri North Local Government Area on Tuesday in an open letter written to NNPCL managing director has faulted alleged counter statement by Mr Norway Tondigha as regards its earlier publication, lamenting alleged sideline of Egbema youths in the pipeline surveillance job being handled by Tantita security services limited.

EYC said that Mr Norway Tondigha misconstrued its position canvassed in the said publication, adding that they only demanded that Egbema slots for the pipeline surveillance job should be handled by General Aroni Oputu.

While clarifying its stands, the group reaffirmed former Niger Delta agitator, Aroni Oputu to take charge of the surveillance job in Warri North Local Government Area of state.
This is according to an open letter written to the Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL which was signed by its president Comrade City Kelvin Eferusuoa, Comr. Governor Ekpokeme Secretary General, Comr. Michael.K. Ejemi, Public relations officer and Comr. Abraham IGBIRIKI
2nd Mobile Parliament
Speaker on Tuesday.

The group, however reaffirmed the nomination of the Ex-agitator of the first phase presidential Amnesty Programme, Aroni Oputu to take charge of the pipeline surveillance job in Warri North Local Government Area, where Chevron Nigeria Limited and Dibi Field Nigeria Petroleum Development Companies operate.

The group maintained that they preferred the ex-agitator for the job due to his past experience in the field.

“He is an Ex-agitator general documented in the first phase of PAP, he knows all nooks and crannies in the Warri North Local Government Area,” Part of the letter reads.

The letter added that Aroni was a member of waterways security to Emmanuel Uduaghan for 8 years.

However, the group urged the management of NNPCL and the authority concerned with the surveillance contract to do the needful to avoid a situation where the youths would go haywire.

EYC said, “As members of the aforementioned apex youths body of Egbema kingdom in Warri North local government area in Delta State, we wish to recommend Ex-Agitator General of the first phase Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Ex-General Aroni Oputu to handle the pipeline surveillance contract of Warri North local government area where CHEVRON NIGERIA LIMITED operation fields are, such as; OPUEKEBA FIELD, OLERO FIELD and DIBI FIELD. Also host to NIGERIA PETROLEUM DEVELOPMENT COMPANY (NPDC) operation fields under OML40, Gbetiokun field, Opuama field and Connoil drilling ongoing, all in the Egbema kingdom”.

The letter reads, “the attention of the apex youth body of Egbema kingdom has been drawn to a publication made by one Mr. Norway Tondigha who missinformed the gullible public just to protect the interest of his paymaster through gbaramatuvoice online news yesterday because of the hatred he has against Chief Aroni Oputu and he lacks the requisite knowledge for pipeline surveillance job. Hence, we are informing the concerned authorities to disregard his baseless article and honour the demand of EX-AGITATOR GENERAL, CHIEF ARONI OPUTU, who can peacefully and successfully handle the pipeline surveillance job in the nooks and crannies of Warri North LGA”,

“He was member of waterways security to His Excellency, Emmanuel Uduaghan for 8 years and also a committee member of waterways and land security to His Excellency, Sen. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for his first tenure and his second tenure Special Assistance to the Governor on security matters.

“He also has good working relationship with the security agencies in Warri North local Government Area and Delta State at large. He is a well recognised Chief in Egbema Kingdom in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.

“We therefore, we write on behalf of all the youths in Warri North local government area to forestall a breakdown of law and order as there is already growing uproar amongst majority of the youths who are pained at the disregard or sidelined of their Ex- AGITATOR GEN. ARONI OPUTU for not giving him opportunity in the immediate ended phase of the contract, and we don’t want that to occur again for the ongoing second phase award of the contract this time”, they added.
