Eze Aro stool fight: Idei Kanu granted bail court

One of the claimants to the Eze Aro throne of the Arochukwu kingdom, Godwin Idei Kanu, has been granted bail by a magistrate’s court located in Umuahia, Abia State.

Godwin Idei Kanu was put under arrest on three counts of pretending to be the Eze Aro of the Arochukwu kingdom without the state government’s approval.

Kanu was granted bail by Chief Magistrate Onwutuebe Madu, who fixed the bail amount at 100,000 Naira plus two surcharges in the same amount.

The case was postponed by the court until February 2, 2024.

Jude Nwaokoro, Kanu’s attorney, told the media after the decision that his client had been charged by the Abia State government via the Commissioner of Police.

Nwaokoro explained how the issuance of bail to Godwin Idei Kanu was “the embodiment of democracy”
