FG announces Public Holiday Monday next week to observe Eid-ul-Mawlid

The Nigerian Federal Government has declared Monday, September 16, 2024, as a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, which celebrates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ¹ ². This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
Tunji-Ojo congratulated the Muslim Ummah, both in Nigeria and abroad, and encouraged them to embody the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience. He also urged Muslims to use this occasion to pray for lasting peace and a more prosperous nation ¹.
Eid-ul-Mawlid is a significant celebration in the Islamic calendar, and this public holiday will allow Muslims in Nigeria to observe and celebrate this important occasion with family and friends.
