Residents of Riverine Communities in Burutu, Bomadi, and Patani Local Government Areas have been devastated by the increasing flood as they cried over neglect by the Delta State government and National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA in the state.

Congress newspaper gathered that the flood had overwhelmed houses, farmlands, and fish ponds in the affected communities in the state.

Some of the affected communities in Burutu LGA include Ayakoromo, Gbekebor, Obotebe, Ofonibenghan, Ogbeingbene, Agbodobiri, Egodo Torugbebe, Edoro, Ekogbene, Abadama, Kalafugbene, Enduro Tamigbe, Tuomo, Ogbogbagbene, Tubegbe, Ojobo, Okpokunou, Edegbene, Oboro, etc.
Also affected communities in Bomadi LGA include Bomadi, Kpakiama, Ezebiri, Ogodobri, and others.

Others in Patani’s Local Government Area include Patani, Adobu, Ofoni, Odorobu, Agiama, Bolou-Agiama, Ebedebiri, Okunbo, and others.

Despite this excruciating pain and suffering leading to loss of livelihood by the victims. The Delta state government, National Emergency Management Agency, and NEMA were yet to respond.

Some communities have been submerged for a week now, there are no rescue efforts to relocate or evacuate affected victims. Some victims now hang on top of the roof, others passed their night and day in platforms and canoes.

Following the ravaging flood academy and other commercial activities had been suspended in all Riverine Communities.

There were reported cases of children and adults being drowned in some communities in Delta state. The level of hunger among victims is unspeakable as all economic activities had been suspended.

However, Federal, Delta state governments, NEMA, NDDC, and other relevant agencies should come to the aid of the affected communities and victims without further delay.
