The heavy flooding across the Nigerian federation has wreaked havoc in the Agbodobiri community, the traditional headquarters of Ogbolubiri-main kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state.

The community is one of the most famous and prominent communities in the Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state.

The common occupation of the residents are fishing and farming but the sudden flooding ravaged all farmlands and fishing occupations.

Sources said the flood had sacked the king’s palace and the entire community, adding that commercial activities had crumbled.

Residents said since the emergence of the flood they lived in canoes and platforms because they don’t even have money to relocate to the upland.

According to them, the government at different levels was expected to provide succour and evacuate trapped victims to upland or IDP camps, adding that flood victims are yet to see such efforts from the government.

Asked whether the king is still in the palace, they said the king had fled the community, leaving his subjects behind.
